Standard 1:
Thinks critically and analyses nursing practice RNs use a variety of thinking strategies and the best available evidence in making decisions and providing safe, quality nursing practice within person-centred and evidence-based frameworks.

Objective: Enhances my skills and knowledge on the proper administration of medication knowing the six rights in administering medication to patients.
Rationale: Administering medication to patient through my scope of practice with safe and effective nursing intervention applied.
Strategy: Giving medication following the six rights of safe medication right patient, right medication, right dose, right time, right route, and right documentation.
Evidence: First step in giving medication is to check thoroughly the medication chart and doctor's order i need to check carefully to check if the order is valid for example if the order is not valid i need to call for the doctor to check and correct the order before carrying out the order.

Rationale: I will become culturally sensitive to the different preferences and needs of a specific individual when it comes to their cultural belief and practices.
Strategy: Getting to know the history of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their cultures. Attending seminars, educational forums that will help us understand their needs, social determinants.
Evidence: Attending the Module 4 Cultural and Professional Responsibilities, Topic 7 Vulnerability and health care for unit HSNS207 Fundamentals of Nursing in Australian Context.

Objective: Provide safe and holistic care to the patient.
Rationale: This will ensure the safety and providing care to patient guided by the policy and procedure of the organisation.
Strategy: Every procedures being done should always check the policies and procedure in order to have a guidance on what should be legally done.
Evidence: In performing such procedure to a patient as a student nurse i should be guided with my scope of practice and i should know the policies and procedure of the organisations where i am serving my clinical placement.
