STANDARD 6
Standard 6: Provides safe, appropriate and responsive quality nursing practice RNs provide and may delegate, quality and ethical goal-directed actions. These are based on comprehensive and systematic assessment, and the best available evidence to achieve planned and agreed outcomes.

Objective: To limit errors and avoid being sanctioned by the law.
Rationale: This will promote safe continuous care to the patient.
Strategy: As a student nurse i should maintain and follow my scope of practice to ensure safe and effective nursing
Evidence: During my clinical placement if the nurse ask me to give IV push medication with out any supervision of the nurse
i can decline and confront the nurse that it is beyond my scope of practice to give IV push medication with out nurses supervission.

Objective: Deliver safe and providing care to the patient is appropriate.
Rationale: As a student nurse it is mandatory that i should follow my scope of practice and i should be under the supervision of a registered nurse every procedure i will make.
Strategy: Be a keen observer and active listener to every instructions the registered nurse is teaching us.
Evidence: During medication in my clinical placement experience if i am not sure about the medication i am giving and i noticed something wrong with my patient i should first hold the medication and ask for the registered nurse to double check with me if it is safe to give the medication.
